Wesley has a residents program that houses up to 8 William & Mary students who are committed to Wesley’s vision of radical hospitality towards all. Residents are often the face of the Wesley House and Wesley’s hospitality, especially during the times of the day when staff are not in the building.

Students who live at Wesley covenant together to:

  1. Work together to build faithful, compassionate community with other residents and the entire Wesley community of students, friends, community groups, local churches, board members, etc.
  2. Meet together regularly to build community. 
  3. Serve as friendly, welcoming hosts for Wesley when people stop by and other groups use the Wesley Foundation House.
  4. Are active participants in Wesley’s community, particularly offering hospitality and welcome, as well as community equity and social action projects. 
  5. Follow the guidelines for living in community in the resident handbook and lease.
  6. Live in the house for the academic year. (If there is the possibility of you studying abroad in the Spring Semester, please include those plans in your application. It will not preclude you from living at Wesley, but preference will be given to those who are going to be living here the entire academic year.)
  7. Work together and complete the weekly chores. It is the responsibility of each individual to contribute to keeping the communal spaces clean. 
  8. Wesley provides housing for students who do not have a safe place to go home to during breaks when the dorms are closed (winter, between spring and summer housing, etc.), Thus, each resident needs to be willing to allow a student to temporarily utilize their room during these breaks.

2025/26 ROOM RATES:

Cloister: $1000/Semester

Doubles without attached bath: $2,000/Semester

Double with attached bath: $2,200/Semester

Single: $2,300/Semester

GUIDELINES/CRITERIA FOR SELECTION AS HOUSE RESIDENT:

  • Application/Interview
  • Level of participation in Wesley
  • Priority of acceptance (not room assignments) will be given to current residents as long as there is no reason to the contrary
  • Preference will also be for those who will be living here the entire academic year
  • Room assignments will be determined after acceptance of eight persons into the house
  • No couples
