This Week (9/26-10/2)

  • Small Group: Marcus J. Borg (9/29): Our SG leader Eira is hosting this semester’s Wesley Small Group every Monday from 5:00-6:00 PM. The focus is on Marcus J. Borg’s Convictions: How I Learned What Matters Most, wherein Borg recounts what underscored the foundations for his faith: hope and transformation. This week’s chapter is number 4, “Salvation is More About This Life than an Afterlife”.
  • Debunking the Rapture with Campus Minister Ryan LaRock (9/28): Our guest speaker this Sunday is actually Wesley’s very own campus minister, Ryan LaRock. TikTok was rampant with talk of the rapture after a South African pastor prophesied that it would take place on September 23rd or 24th. Of course, we now know that, like all previous rapture predictions, it was not fulfilled. What if the whole idea of the rapture is wrong? Let’s answer that. Thank you to Lauren Garrett for supplying us with an awesome Tex-Mex meal this Sunday!
  • Ryan’s Roaming Hours (9/30): Wesley’s campus minister, Ryan LaRock, will be in Swem’s Column 15 from 11:30-1:30. Enjoy a chat about faith, school, and more with a complimentary coffee (or other sold drink of your choice) when you stop by! His roaming hours are now every Tuesday.
  • Worship at Wesley! (9/30): Worship will be at 6:00 PM on Tuesdays at Wesley this year! Worship services tend to last 30-45 minutes, with a sermon from Ryan, singing, scripture reading, and optional communion for all; this year will have a more discussion-based focus.
