TLDR: Worship and Small Group are back!

This Week (9/12-9/18)

  • Small Group Meetings (9/12 + 9/15): Our SG leader Eira will be starting this semester’s Wesley Small Group weekly meeting today at 4:00 PM. Afterwards, all future meetings will be Mondays from 5:00-6:00 PM, including this Monday, the 15th! The focus will be on Marcus J. Borg’s Convictions: How I Learned What Matters Most, wherein Borg recounts what underscored the foundations for his faith: hope and transformation.
  • Large Group: Justice, Advocacy, & Belonging with Rev. Lan Wilson (9/14): Our guest speaker is The Reverend LanDavis Wilson, who is the Director of Belonging and Advocacy in the Virginia United Methodist Church. Lan is passionate about walking with communities who strive to rise above hate by engaging in social justice practices that are practical and spiritual. At the core of his work is helping people discover what it means to show up and be present in ways that transform communities. Thank you to Wellspring UMC for the meal!
  • Worship at Wesley! (9/16): Worship will be at 6:00 PM on Tuesdays at Wesley this year, starting THIS Tuesday! Worship services tend to last 30-45 minutes, with a sermon from Ryan, singing, scripture reading, and optional communion for all; this year will have a more discussion-based focus.
  • Ryan’s Roaming Hours (9/16): Wesley’s campus minister, Ryan LaRock, will be at the ISC Starbucks area from 11:30-1:30. Enjoy a chat about faith, school, and more with a complimentary coffee (or other sold drink of your choice) when you stop by! His roaming hours are now every Tuesday.
